about

Don’t touch those knobs! It’s all about the crackle. Recorded live to a vinyl lathe in Newcastle in 2017. A brilliant project run by Lorna Fulton and Gary Malkin (www.latherevival.com). The reel was written by Sully (Tony Sullivan) for my tin whistle teacher Marion Egan. She and Sully played together in Sullivan’s Private Stock around Manchester in the 1970s. Marian taught hundreds of children in Manchester before returning to Ireland. Paul Daly, from Mayo now resident in Manchester, was one of her pupils in Ireland and joins me on flute on this track. A trip to Newcastle had to include one of my favourite fiddlers from that end of the country, Amanda Lewis.
