about

The first tune I learnt from the playing of the late London based Sligo flute player Roger Sherlock. He set the standard for Irish flute playing for me and his solo album “Memories of Sligo” (1978) is my favourite flute album of all time. The second tune was written by Josie McDermott from Coolmeen, County Sligo. Josie was a great whistle, saxophone and flute player. He was asked to play at a dinner dance in Birmingham. His flight was redirected to London due to fog. Josie was blind and unfamiliar with London, so he took a taxi to Birmingham. By the time he arrived in Birmingham he had the tune written in his head
